NTFGH's Department of Ophthalmology works in partnership with NUHS for our Ophthalmology Surgery Residency Training Programme. Residents are rotated to NTFGH for their vitreo retina surgical attachment.
Residents are actively involved during their attachment with NTFGH, in the form of clinical work such as ward rounds, Specialist Outpatient Clinic duties and operating lists. They contribute to our multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. Residents have ample time for consultant-lead clinical sub-specialty sessions, committed clinical sessions for hands-on outpatient procedures (ophthalmic therapeutic lasers and intravitreal injections) and dedicated ophthalmology surgical training sessions.
Besides NUHS Ophthalmology residency teaching sessions and weekly National Ophthalmology Continuing Medical Education sessions, they are also involved in other educational activities. They give scientific talks, case presentations and journal club presentations and receive feedback on their performance. Depending on the ongoing clinical research projects during their postings, residents are also given opportunities to get involved in clinical research.
