The Renal Medicine Senior Residency Programme at NTFGH forms part of the NUHS Senior Residency Programme, whereby senior residents are posted for two-month rotations.
The programme presents a wide spectrum of kidney diseases and related conditions, such as acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte and acid-base abnormalities, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis. Senior residents experience common procedures in renal medicine, such as urine microscopy, bedside kidney ultrasonography, native kidney biopsy, hemodialysis catheter placement and removal as well as peritoneal dialysis catheter placement.
Beside didactic activities organised by NTFGH and NUH (web-based broadcast), NTFGH's Renal Medicine team runs monthly journal club sessions, peer reviews, renal histology meetings and radiology conferences.
