NTFGH's Division of Medicine is a participating site for National University Health System's Internal Medicine Residency Programme. During their three-month rotation to NTFGH, residents are exposed to a wide range of clinical cases so that they can gain experience with diagnostic and management problems that challenge their analytical skills.
Training is provided by a dedicated faculty with a specially designed curriculum which is meant to complement the experience at NUHS. There is an emphasis on providing a holistic experience comprising compassionate and competent care, with a focus on the humanistic side of healing. Regular PACES-styled bedside tutorials help residents hone their clinical skills and fine-tune physical examination skills. In addition, there are opportunities for interested residents to embark on research projects under the supervision of faculty members.
Residents are rotated through disciplines such as Internal Medicine, Acute Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Endocrinology, Intensive Care Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Gastroenterology. Advanced residency trainees are also rotated to Endocrinology, General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine.
