"Come Wander with Me" is a series of 13 landscape photographic prints by Singaporean fine art photographer Hong Huazheng (H) especially selected by staff for the Operating Theatre. The vast and expansive images of majestic mountains, rice fields and starry nights were shot in places untouched by civilisation and technology, a deliberate attempt by the artist who reflects on the impact of technology on people and the environment.
"Our world is compressed by connectivity. In our island city-state filled with manufactured landscapes, we tend to fall into the trap of not seeing the beauty of nature as we are too busy trying to recreate it. We need to dream and regain our sense of scale.", the artist shared.
To create this harmonious environment that the staff of the Operating Theatre can call their own, a poll was done to gather all the feedback and votes during the image selection process. During the voting process, the artist engaged some of the staff to better understand how different imageries evoke different emotions before narrowing down the selection of images.
