Dr Tan Chee Keat graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from the Universiti Kebangsaan in Malaysia. She obtained her Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) at the National University of Singapore. She entered further training at the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. Dr Tan is a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Dr Tan is dual-accredited in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. She underwent additional training in Critical Care Medicine in Alfred Hospital, Australia, a clinical attachment in King’s College, London and a hospital-based management course for a mass casualty incident programme.
In 2006, Dr Tan was appointed as Director of Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the National University Hospital. She was Associate Professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2009.
Dr Tan joined JurongHealth Campus in 2010 as a Consultant in the Department of Anaesthesia. She was appointed as Head of Department for the newly formed Intensive Care Medicine department in April 2012. The department helms the first combined Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit in Singapore. Located at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, the combined ICU and HDU provides a single standard of unified intensive care, through a team of dedicated multi-professional ICU team with the objective of achieving better patient outcomes.
