Biosketch

Dr Bryan Buan is an Associate Consultant in the Division of Colorectal Surgery, National University Hospital. Dr Buan graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2014, and commenced his General Surgery Residency training in 2017. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2022 and was accredited as a Specialist in General Surgery by the Specialist Accreditation Board.  

Dr Buan’s interests are in colorectal cancer and minimally invasive surgery. He is an advocate that early screening and detection of colorectal cancer can lead to improved outcomes and experiences for patients. Dr Buan is also committed to the advancement of clinical knowledge, and has published papers in peer-reviewed journals. 

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Buan believes in paying in forward, and has demonstrated a strong commitment to medical education. He actively engages in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He was a Clinical Convenor for the Final Surgery MBBS Examinations, and currently holds the role of co-director of Phase V Surgery.
