JurongHealth Campus Arts&Health Festival 2017

Arts & Health Programmes

JurongHealth Campus' second Arts&Health Festival, with the theme "Journey", takes participants on a journey of lived experiences, memories and imagination. The highlight of the festival was the opening of "Love Blossoms from a Seed" - a community art exhibition by artist, Ranae Lee-Nasir and eight students from Grace Orchard School for students with mild intellectual disability or autism. Over 30 cheerful paintings depicting garden scapes were created during a four-day art camp. Showcased for the first time at the festival is a series of more than 40 colourful flora prints and murals in the cancer clinic and chemotherapy bay, co-created by artist Mary Bernadette Lee and cancer survivors from the Singapore Cancer Society. "Rise Above" is inspired by the resilience and courage of these survivors. The artworks offer an oasis of calm and messages of hope and optimism to encourage cancer patients. Adding to the festival buzz is a display of 80 shortlisted entries for a photo competition with the theme "Journey", as well as two other art exhibitions - “Blossoms Colour of Life” and “Memories“ - featuring nostalgic motifs of good old kampong days depicted on fabric collage and batik paintings at our community art galleries. We were glad to see patients, staff, guests and the community enjoy the colours and cheer it brought to our hospitals!
