Heartfelt – Arts&Health Festival 2019

Arts & Health Programmes, Community Outreach

28 August 2019 marks the opening of our fourth Arts&Health Festival “Heartfelt”. The festival opening was graced by our Guest-of-Honour, Mr Chan Heng Kee (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health), and many other invited guests from our community partners. Every year, we celebrate our collaborations with many community partners and artists, who come together to transform our hospital environment into a healing and cheerful place for patients, visitors and staff. Each piece of artwork on the walls of #NTFGH and #JCH is made with much sincerity, gratitude and from the heart.

The highlight of the festival was the Handmade Heartmade exhibition, a community sewing project featuring over 200 colourful and tactile sensory mats selected from 700 mats specially hand-stitched by people from different walks of life for persons with dementia. Behind these mats are heartfelt stories of personal experiences and inspirations, transformed into fun artworks that are lovingly hand-sewn by our patients, caregivers, staff and the community. Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all our participants for their time and effort in stitching these beautiful unique pieces with so much love!
